The Girls Junior Rugby League (JRL) Academy is offered to girls in year 7 to 10.
This program aims to:
- provide opportunities for our students to participate in female Rugby League electives classes as part of the curriculum.
- develop personal discipline, teamwork and sportsman ship in our students.
- provide skill development and practical opportunities, including tackling, attack and defence.
Program Details
The JRL Academy is undertaken across Years 7 to 10, with Year 7 classes commencing in semester two.
Hervey Bay State High School is committed to developing and instilling a love of Rugby League through both curricular and extra-curricular learning experiences. The aspects of specific skill acquisition, training, nutrition, injury management and competition are examined and built upon in this program.
Our Academy players have many opportunities to develop their on field skills through training and competition, but also off field skills such as refereeing and coaching opportunities.
Key Academy Opportunities
Students who are involved in the JRL Academy have many opportunities throughout the year to demonstrate both their practical and teamwork skills. Experiences include involvement in the:
- Broncos Challenge
- Hervey Bay District Trials
- Wide Bay District Trials
- Karryn Murphy Cup
- Hervey Bay State High School 9's 'Hit'
Students will also be provided opportunities to be involved in:
- QLD Women's State of Origin Training sessions
- NRLW Bronco's training sessions and games
- Fiji Development Camp (Petero's Tours)

Involvement in the JRL Academy provides students amazing opportunities and allows them to develop strong community partnerships with the:

- Petero Civonicerva Foundation
- QRL
- Brisbane Broncos NRLW
