Return of Laptops and Tablets

All current Year 12 students are required to return their laptop / tablet device under the 1-to-1 eLearning program.  As per the Student Charter distributed from the start of 2012, at the end of the loan period, all devices are returned to the school and will be removed from the school network. The devices will have all licensed software and data removed and will be restored to their original factory state.
 
The black Acer laptops are only three years old and will be in use by Hervey Bay State High School for at least another 12 months at which time, the warranty on the machines will cease.  The tablets will continue until approximately the end of 2016.  Once these devices reach “end of life” (usually considered to be at the end of the warranty but this can be extended), DETE will make a decision regarding the disposal, sale or recycling of the used devices, as appropriate at that time. 
 
At this stage, we have received no information about what is required to occur once machines are ready to be disposed of.
