The
Resource Centre at Hervey Bay SHS provides a library service
that enhances the school's vision of 'Opportunity to Succeed'.
As well as creating a supportive learning environment, Resource
Centre staff members encourage students to have a sense of
ownership in their use of the library. It is important for
students to feel comfortable to use the facilities for a range
of educational and recreational purposes which suit their
needs.
The
Resource Centre provides:

- a
flexible, safe and pleasant work environment for students
and staff
- a
current fiction collection to encourage reading for
all ages and ability levels
- a
7 day, 24 hour service taping educational programs
from AUSTAR and ABC for classroom use
- coordination
for an extensive text book hire scheme
- resources to supprot the curriculum for staff and students
- assistance
in the teaching of information skills to students
- a
range of recreational opportunities during recesses
including access to a covered courtyard and large
carpeted area for reading of comics, magazines, playing
chess, performing dance and video viewing
- Technology
resources include Internet access and access to CD-ROMs.
